About

    Who we are

Serendip Charity was established as a UK registered charity in May 2009, just after the end of the civil war, in response to the cry for help from orphaned & destitute children and widows in the north & east of Sri Lanka. The Mission of the Charity is to ‘provide sustainable & critical assistance and empowering the most vulnerable in society in the north & east of Sri Lanka’

The charity has continued to help the people during the last 11 years through a series of projects. We thank our generous sponsors, beneficiaries and volunteers in the UK, and our staff in the North and East of Sri Lanka for their continued tireless efforts.

    The Charity’s objectives are :-

    • (1) Assistance to orphaned and vulnerable children in Sri Lanka by supporting them in a loving and nurturing home, addressing their immediate needs of food and shelter, and their progressive needs for education, social support and eventually, work and independence.
    • (2) Help widows with families become self-sufficient. This largely consists of funding through loans or grants to set them up as self-employed workers or small businesses.
    • (3) Essential Food and Medicine for the most vulnerable and elderly in society who have no other means of support.

We are registered with this organisation Benevity — Powering Purpose-Driven Business.
